Dear Friends,
On June 14th 2002 I will begin one of the biggest challenges of my life, the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day. This event is a 60-mile walk from Kenosha Wisconsin to Chicago. For three days I will be living in a mobile tent city with 3000 other women to raise money for breast cancer. Did you know that over 1 million women are in the U.S. living with breast cancer and they don’t even know it? 40,000 of those women will die this year alone. In America a new case of breast cancer is diagnosed every 3 minutes and every 13 minutes this disease claims another life. 1 out of every 9 women in America will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Almost 100% of us will know someone who has this disease. Men are not immune to this disease, an average of 1,500 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. As many of you know breast cancer has affected my own family in a very significant way claiming the life of my mother Patsy at the young age of 40. This walk is in her memory. I’m also walking to raise the awareness of breast cancer with the people I care about. Many women are afraid to get mammograms, because they are afraid of the results. I have had three baseline mammograms already, they can be a little scary, but they can also save your life. I have committed to raising $1900.00 and I need your help. Would you please support my walk by making a pledge? Your pledges are fully tax-deductible and every dollar gets me closer to my goal. Your generous donation would help fund cancer centers, medical centers and breast health programs nationwide. Training and completing this walk will be a huge challenge on my part. But my challenge is nothing in comparison to the women who live with breast cancer everyday. Please join me in my fight against breast cancer, together you and I can save lives. I am enclosing a donation form for the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day, or you may support me by going to Bethepeople.com and logging in Julianne Jachec #8066. Thank you for your generosity and support.
